Information via SMS in Uganda

Many countries in this world still can’t enjoy full electric power supplies in their daily activites. Like in Uganda, when only 10 percent of population can enjoyed electric supplies. But uniquely, more than a third of population or equal with 10 million have handphone. Some non profit organization start to think how to use more efficient and effective way to send information to population, especially they who life in hinterland. And the best way of course by handphone fasilities. Grameen Foundation work together with Google and celluler provider in Uganda to developing an application that permit the hadphone user to get information via short massage service (SMS). That various information provide, like HIV, agriculture guider, until weather forecast. For they who have no handphone, illiterate, and can’t speak in english, can visited operator at their village and used operator’s handphone.
